Japanese Govt Invites M'sian Civil Servants To Apply For Their 2023 Master's Scholarships

The Japanese government is inviting Malaysian government workers to apply for their 2023 MEXT Young Leaders' Program for a chance to pursue a Master's degree in Japan
The Embassy of Japan in Malaysia announced that applications for the full scholarship programme are open from now until 21 October 2022.
The scholarships are targeted towards Malaysians under the age of 40 (as of next year) with some working experience in the public sector.
The five courses available under the Young Leaders' Program are:
- Public Administration (minimum three years of working experience),
- Local Governance (minimum three years of working experience),
- Business Administration (minimum two years of working experience)
- Law (minimum four years of working experience), and
- Healthcare Administration (minimum five years of working experience).
Applicants will also require a good command of English, with a minimum TOEFL score of 100 or IELTS score of 7.0 for the Business Administration course, or a TOEFL score of 80 or IELTS score of 6.0 for the other four courses.

The tenure of the scholarship is one year from October 2023 to September 2024, and all courses will be conducted in English.
Although the amount is subject to change, the embassy said recipients will receive a monthly stipend of JPY242,000 (RM7,730).
The host universities of the Master's courses are as follows:
- Master in Public Administration at the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies in Tokyo
- Master in Public Policy at the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies in Tokyo
- Master of Business Administration at Hitotsubashi University in Tokyo
- Master of Law at Kyushu University in Fukuoka
- Master of Healthcare Administration at Nagoya University in Nagoya
All applications are to be made through the applicant's governing Malaysian authority
For example, those interested in the Business Administration course will have to hand their applications to the Chambers of Commerce, those interested in Healthcare Administration to the Ministry of Health, and the latter three courses to the Public Service Department.
Selected candidates will then be screened by the Young Leaders' Program committee of the Embassy of Japan in Malaysia and then the respective host universities in Japan.
